Post Me_New ID

An action research project with a focus on the future of the body

network, create and share
Post Me_New ID examines the complexity of 21st century European identity through an exploration based on the effect of digital technologies of the body and identity. An active and public Blog is fed by a series of debate led Research Engines with a Forum, Book and DVD as the end products. In addition a series of Creation Processes will result in a public Installation / Performance.

Post Me_New ID is a co-production between body>data>space (London, UK), CIANT | International Centre for Art and New Technologies (Prague, Czech Republic), TMA | Trans-Media-Academy Hellerau (Dresden, Germany) and Kibla (Maribor, Slovenia) supported by the European Union within the Culture 2007 Programme.

Post Me_New ID practically explores the physical and digital social networking of creation processes for interdisciplinary artistic projects and envisions the artistic outputs of generations to come.

This project is a driver for a learning exchange and knowledge transfer in a diverse group of skilled experts. It brings together artists, curators, academics, psychologists, creative technologists and new media producers working in a value chain of shared expertise - from process to product and to the public.

What is the current and future condition of the post-human body?
What is the relationship between identities and digital culture?
How will digital and physical mobility affect and interact with future gender ideologies and multi-cultural scenarios?
How will the creative participation of audience as players (not just spectators) affect and change artistic processes, the tools in use and the culture created?

We are researching and exploring the following key themes:

Wearables / Prosthetics / Robotics
Telematics / Generative / Real Time
Next ID / Multi Selves / Avatars
Monsters /Heroes - human / non-human / the “other”
Engendered bodies - shifts in gender psychologies

The long-term aim of the project is a sustained knowledge network that will foster understanding of individual as well as collective identities rendered by 21st digital culture.

Blipp-blopp-festival at Lava

I'm Video Jockeying at Lava for the Blipp-blopp-festival!

I will play my 3D graphitti software (wiimote) with the 8bits scrachs of CrazyQ and the Gameboy deconstructed melodies of Nitro2k01, sunday, 28th of october - 16h30 to 20h00.

About the Blipp-blopp-festival:

Den 27 och 28 oktober anordnar Microdisko i samarbete med Lava och OXO Unlimited en tvådagarsfestival för chipmusik, breakcore och circuitbending.

Helgen kommer både att innehålla live-framträdanden och workshops där du själv får pröva på att skapa chipmusik och breakcore, samt att själv circuitbenda leksaker.

Tomas Nygren has audio recorded some of the lectures at the PixelVÄRK festival, including mine!

Gondouin presented a variety of exiting projects. Most notably was his notion in a dance perfomance setup that the interaction with the dancer made all the effort to use advanced motion-tracking methods less successful compared to using an ordinary midi-control device, since using the midi-contoller maintained the direct contact between the performers.

I will participate in the "pixelVÄRK seminar" at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, friday 5th october 10-16.00.

The theme for the 2007 pixelVÄRk is aesthetics, tools and methods in VJ-ing and other underground media. The festival marks the end of the Game Art focus Mejan Labs has had during the early autumn of 2007, where art related to computer games have been discussed.

About reboot:

Calling all practical visionaries of the world!

It's time to reboot our minds once again; reboot9 will take place in Copenhagen Thursday, May 31st and Friday, June 1st 2007.
Two days away from implementing, away from the status quo. Two days together with old and new friends in an informal and open festival spirit...

THE CHALLENGE
The theme for reboot9 is "human?". A big word, but a word that saturates what's happening and all ready on a deeper level has been transcending reboot the last couple of years.
We're connecting to each others as human beings once again. We're building tools to empower humans - not institutions. We're creating new iconic collaborative human manifestations. We're finding ourselves as humans and our human voices. We're humanizing our organizations and our socities. We're reestablishing links to nature we'd long forgotten. We're looking at the world together as humans - not as consumers or workers.

So when all is in going away from mechanical industrial models to human natural models where this is leading us?. What is our shared understanding of "human?". How do we organize ourselves in human institutions and organizations?. How are our tools shaping us as humans, how are we shaping our tools. Is it leading us to chaos without organization and government or nirvana?. What do we as humans want to happen, what can we imagine?

reboot9 is about looking both backwards and forwards. Backwards because history has a tendency to repeat itself but also for staying power of the discussions that we had at reboot8, reboot7 and earlier even. Forwards in order to predict by implementing and to obsolete the pretensions we forget to dismiss.
